David's kidney transplant

Donation protected
As most of you know, if you have been following my Facebook post, I have been in kidney failure for several years. In the past 18 months we have asked for a lot of prayers and support, which I have received 10 times over. We thank you so very much. Things for me changed about 3 months ago. My health took a turn for the worst and needed to start dialysis. In speaking with my doctors they gave us a choice of hospitals to have the transplant done at and we chose the University of Minnesota. Once that was decided my wife and I started the process of looking for a living donor. As we started letting people know how to apply through the University of MN website. I received a phone call from a fellow umpire and friend Nate Gabrelcik saying he wanted to be tested to see if he was a match.

This young man has taken time off work (without pay) and gone through the long process of testing. A couple weeks ago we received the phone call of all phones calls, "I AM A MATCH"  It was Nate Gabrelcik on the other end. He was a 100% match.

We quickly called our coordinator at the U of M and she verified YES he is a match. Our goal at this time is to have the transplant done end of February beginning of March. My protein and Blood levels need to be normal for a period of time before the transplant.

In talking with Nate we found out he will be off work recovering for around 10 weeks. The company he works for does not pay him short term disability. Bills do not stop coming even when you do something as wonderful as giving another person a second chance at life.

Along with Nate's bills we also will be hit with some high cost medicine's to keep my kidney functioning.

We are not asking for personal gain.  My wife and I have set up this go fund me account to help with Nate's expenses along with ours.

We greatly appreciate any amount you can help with. All we ask is you give from your heart and please share our story.

Thank you all and thank you Lord for a second chance at life.

God bless
