Give the gift of reading!

I'm aiming to raise $5,000 to support Reading Partners Bay Area, an amazing nonprofit that helps local children become proficient in reading. 

As an active participant with Reading Partners, I've learned that the literacy challenge is a HUGE problem--only a third of our nation's fourth graders can read proficiently.  Additionally, at fourth grade children transition from "learning to read" to "reading to learn", which means children who are behind at this age face much bigger hurdles in the future.   

Specifically, children who cannot read proficiently by the fourth grade are four times less likely to graduate on time—hindering their chances to live happy, healthy lives and greatly diminishing their ability to find economic opportunity as adults.  

This cycle of hardship can be broken--and it starts with reading.  

By donating to Reading Partners, your dollars will help transform an unused classroom into a bustling reading center.  More importantly, you'll change lives--of those children, their families, and their communities.  

My goal for this campaign is to reach $5,000, which would fully support five students’ participation in the Reading Partners program for a full year!  That represents five lives that will never be the same because of your help.
