Campaign for Partners in Recovery Inc

People in recovery from substance abuse soon will have a place in Ashland where they can go to share their experiences and get support from others in recovery.

Partners in Recovery, a local non-profit group dedicated to helping alcoholics and addicts stay clean, has been seeking a place to operate a drop-in center for more than a year. The center will be a place where those new to recovery can hang out and meet with those who have been in recovery on a long-term basis in a safe and supportive atmosphere. Classes in recovery, support groups and twelve step networking will be offered.  Community providers will be invited to bring in resource advisers. 

In response to a drug epidemic,  the Chequamagon Bay  area has increasing numbers of alcoholics and addicts in early recovery. Most  are enrolled in out-patient and drug court programs as they look for work and job training.  These people need to find "new playgrounds and new playmates." They need support for their changing lifestyles. They need recovery fellowship  to help in their decision to adopt a lifelong  blueprint for better living, one day at a time.  This is what the PIRC - Partners in Recovery Club is all about. 

The PIRC business plan calls for two full time staff to coordinate and train  the many community volunteers who will serve the club, and implement training programs to help people effectively engage in long term self help support groups. With a generous in kind donation of a property lease, and volunteer effort from two community groups - Voices in Recovery and Partners in Recovery-Chequamegon (both on facebook) , the club is off to a good start.  $57,000 in donations is needed  to achieve the staffing goal laid out in the business plan and make the PIR Club an operational reality.
