Family and friends,

I rarely post on social media and do not enjoy asking for money. However, at this time, members of my immediate family whom I love dearly are in great need of your financial and spiritual support. Last night, my cousin David was playing volleyball and suddenly he grabbed the back of his neck, turned to me and said, “Alex, I've never felt anything like this before, I need help.” At first, we didn’t take his remark seriously. Shortly after, it became clear that something was very wrong and we felt the enormity of the problem. No one expects or is prepared for something like this to happen during a casual evening of volleyball, (especially to a guy as young, active, and healthy as David) but we soon found ourselves rushing him to the ER. I write this while sitting outside his room in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital where he remains completely unresponsive and unable to breathe on his own. This has quickly become a season of immense spiritual and emotional confusion for our family as we struggle to rationalize what this is, and why or how it is happening. The results from both a CT and MRI scan have come up with no real conclusions as to why this is happening. Doctors have yet to determine a clear diagnosis.

Though it’s only been approximately eighteen hours since this incident, an extraordinary number of people throughout multiple churches have begun praying for this dearly loved young man. Through growing up alongside him, I have personally come to know David as an incredibly mature, thoughtful, and kind person who never fails to put others before himself. The love and empathy David has poured out to his community speaks volumes more than anything I could say about him—he is a child of God and an example of Jesus to everyone who knows him.

At this point in time, David is not covered by health insurance and his parents, Ella and Vasile, the mother and father of six children, will have to shoulder these unexpected substantial expenses out of pocket. Your financial and prayerful support is needed to help the Bangean family get David back into his junior year of college where he belongs, studying electrical engineering and being a 20 year old guy.

As David was losing consciousness on the drive over to the hospital, he told me, “If I die tonight, I know I will be with Jesus.”

We ask for your prayers: that David would make a full recovery, that God would provide healing, and that God would provide wisdom to and bless the hands of the physicians treating him. We trust deeply in God’s sovereignty in this situation because we know the mighty power and love of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We humbly ask that you would help our family in this time of need in any way you are able. Thank you.

Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
