It is with great sadness that we share the passing of David Schultz on Saturday, May 11, 2019.  David died unexpectedly during a triathlon in Hopkinton State Park.  He was doing something that he truly loved.
David and Kelly Schultz are members of Franklin Elementary School's PTO and dependable parent volunteers in our community.  Funds raised will directly benefit Kelly and their children, Maeve, Emily, and Liam, during this difficult time.

"David was born on August 5, 1978 to Kae and David Schultz, Sr. and grew up with siblings Valerie, Jonathan, and Denise. He attended the University of Illinois, graduated with a degree in actuarial science, and later received his full credentials as an FSA, EA. As a 15-year employee of Fidelity Investments and a Vice President, he will be remembered for his work ethic, leadership, and affability.

David leaves behind his loving wife Kelly O’Leary Schultz and children Liam (9), Emily (6) and Maeve (6). He is survived by his siblings, parents, and grandmother, Theresa Schultz of Blue Island, and extended family. David will also be missed by a devoted Goldendoodle named Millie who greatly loved his belly scratches, treats, and daily runs.

David was the kind of dad who came home after work and dropped everything at the door. He loved nothing more than playing with his kids, reading to them, and making them his famous apple pancakes on Sunday mornings.

Moreover, David was an avid athlete. He began swimming at age five and competed through college. He also lifeguarded and ran cross-country in high school in Chicago. As an adult, he joined a crew team in Baltimore and sculled competitively at Riverside Boat Club where he met Kelly. More recently, he ran his first half-marathon, completed an Olympic length triathlon, and was considering training for his first half-Ironman. Ever committed to his children and sports, he could often be seen shuttling Liam to baseball, soccer, swim, ice skating, and basketball practices with Athletes Unlimited. This past summer he even organized a “Schultz Triathlon” for his kids--which they unanimously named the highlight of their summer and begged him to make it an annual event.

A wake will be held from 4-8 PM on Thursday, May 16th, at the Burke & Blackington Funeral Hom, West Newton and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard’s Church, West Newton at 10 AM Friday, May 17th."
