David Grant Memorial

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of David Grant—a devoted husband, proud father, beloved son, cherished brother and dear uncle—on July 23, 2019. Always eager to lend a hand, Dave was helping a friend in St-Isidore, Ontario when a house fire broke out and claimed the lives of both men. At just 44 years old, Dave leaves behind his heartbroken partner, best friend and soulmate, his wife Jackie, and their four beautiful children.

A hard worker and caring boss, Dave was a friend to everyone he came into contact with—stranger or friend. His kind and generous spirit, his great sense of humour, his warm hugs and his contagious smile will be greatly missed by his many friends from Montréal, St-Lazare, Vankleek Hill and Hawkesbury and from his days working at the Willows, Ivaco Rolling Mills and the Royal Canadian Mint.

But more importantly, he will be missed by his devastated family. The epitome of a family man, everything Dave did was for the love of his life, Jackie, and the support and care of their four wonderful children of which he was so proud: Hunter (15), Dylan (13), Grace (13) and Logan (9). He was an exceptional husband and father, utterly devoted to spending time and taking care of his family. Whether it was family board games, father–son martial arts classes, father–daughter movie marathons or just coffee and cuddling on the couch with his wife, Dave was always happiest surrounded by the ones he loved. He and Jackie had many plans to grow old together, watch their children graduate and marry, travel the world, and snuggle their grandbabies—and now, he is gone too soon and, those dreams are crushed.

The coming months will be challenging as Jackie must learn to navigate a world without her beloved partner in it. With so much family and friends surrounding her, we know that she will find the strength to raise these children to follow in their father’s shining footsteps. Her community’s love and support will be vital to ensuring this happens—and you have already shown us how deeply you care.

We appreciate the outpouring of love and offers for help and thank you all for the kindness you have shown. We know many of you have been looking for ways to help the Grants in their time of need. The friends and family of David Grant and Jackie Redmond have created this page to help with the financial and educational expenses of this family who have already endured so much pain and loss. Please know that any funds raised in memory of Dave will go directly to Jackie. Thank you for your generosity.
