David successfully completed his first semester at Iowa Lakes Community College! He thrived in the classroom and on the soccer field, earning a 4.0 GPA in his first academic semester in the U.S. and started 4 games (played in 9), scoring 9 goals on the season.
Last summer, thanks to generous support from friends, we raised $6,700 to cover the first semester tuition, housing, transport, and food. While David applied for numerous scholarships, he has yet to secure any additional funding to cover the costs associated with school so we are back at it again. Your support will ensure David completes his first year of school!

He joined CameroonFDP* eight years ago when he was in primary school. He was initially attracted to the soccer equipment, knowledgeable coaches, and drills, but soon realized that it was about more than just the game. He quickly emerged as a leader with great potential, serving as president of his school club and an assistant coach in his community.
Early on, David expressed an interest to come to the U.S. to study. Despite his admirable work ethic and determination, he became so frustrated with his experience as a student in high school he nearly dropped out. Thanks to advice from a mentor in the CameroonFDP network, he stayed in school and completed his education. He continued to pursue his goal of coming to the U.S. to study.
In the summer of 2018, David gained admittance to Iowa Lakes Community College to begin this journey to make his dream a reality.
