Walk for Hungry & Homeless Veterans
Donation protected
Hello Everyone, My name is David J Marr Jr.
I am an Army Veteran, Joined in 1987 until I was put out in 2007 due to self medication and PTSD.
I served in Bosnia, Kuwait, Africa,Iraq, and Afghanistan (OIF,OEF).
Beginning Sunday April 12 , I set out to walk from Rochester NY to Sacramento CA to raise money for Hungry and Homeless Veterans in Rochester NY.
It has been one week since I took that first step , I walked 64 miles, met amazing people and continue to gain followers who motivate and inspire me, donations have been generous and I am filled with gratitude.
My journey is taking a new direction today, I have a metal plate in my ankle from my time in the Army, the miles I have walked have put stress on that injury and I am unable to continue walking.
I have decided to continue by driving across country, stopping at homeless shelters across the country to continue the mission I set out to do ...Raise money and awareness for Hungry & Homeless Veterans.
I am currently on the road and will post updates along the way.
I was once a homeless veteran in 2007 due to self medication and severe PTSD, I received help from the VA's in Rochester & Syracuse NY, The Veterans Outreach center in Rochester and The Rescue Mission in Syracuse for which I am Grateful. I continue to receive counseling and services from the VA in Rochester as well as The Veterans Outreach Center that helps me in a big way.
Homelessness is a struggle many Veterans face
Please help me on my journey to raise money and awareness for
Hungry & Homeless Veterans.
I am donating all proceeds of my walk to
The Rescue Mission (Syracuse NY)
The Open Door Mission (Rochester NY)
Salvation Army (Rochester NY) as well as..
Homeless Shelters within the Rochester NY area that Support Veterans
