Dave's Cancer Fight

Dave Foster was a marine corp helicopter crew chief in Vietnam serving two tours between 1968 and 1970 shot up and shot down at least 4 times he came home with permanent combat airwings with a 3 star cluster, 29 air medals, 2 meritorias masts, and more since serving in Vietnam. Dave has worked very hard for many years in finance for car sales, bartending, security guard, and sales. He is an active member of the American Legion in the Washington D.C. area and in Pennsylvania. He loves to work hard, go to the American Legion, watch sports (particularly NFL football and golf), and playing with his fur babies. Now 71 years old, Dave has had to stop working to fight yet another tough battle. After bravely serving our country, he now needs our help.

Dave has early stage 4 soft sarcoma of the tongue, tonsils, throat, and thyroid. This is a cancer primarily caused by exposure to herbicides – most likely Dave’s exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. Dave’s doctors are hopeful that his cancer is very treatable. He is beginning radiation and Chemotherapy treatments. Dave eats very little due to the extreme pain in his mouth and throat that this cancer causes and therefore has lost a significant amount of weight. However, Dave is dedicated to fighting this cancer bravely.

Dave and his wife Merriam, who is a retired administrative assistant and home health aide, live primarily on social security benefits. The medical bills for Dave’s cancer treatments will start to mount soon.
