Simon's Treatment and Support Fund
This was Simon's last medical treatment. And we pray that Simon do not need to see oncologists for treatment again. Please spend a few minutes to read Simon's story and spread the words about our cancer fighter.
Rhabdomyosarcoma is a rare form of pediatric cancers. On November 28, 2016, Monday after THANKSGIVING, it was shocking for us, the parents, to learn from doctors at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA ) that Simon been diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma.
For the first few days, we were scared. Nonetheless, after being consulted by a great team of oncologists and other specialists at CHOA, Svetlana, and Yury, the parents, became STRONGER EMOTIONALLY AND SPIRITUALLY. We gained STRENGTH, COURAGE, and HOPE FOR THE RIGHT CURE AND GREATER CHANCES FOR SIMON'S BEATING HIS SARCOMA.
Since the date of his admission to CHOA Simon has undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapies, multiple CT scans, and MRIs.
Our research for the best treatment options for Simon's sarcoma led us to believe that Simon's surgery and radiation must be performed by the best expert-oncologists in pediatric cancers in New York and New Jersey. On March 23, 2017, the surgical pediatric team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York City performed a very successful surgery for removing his tumor.
Surgery and post-surgery treatment at MSKCC, the 4-week of proton radiation treatment and additional chemotherapies at St. Peters University Hospital in New Jersey have become normal daily events for Simon's family. Our boy is too little yet to understand how serious this diagnosis has become a threat to his health. And that is OK with us, his parents. Simon will learn about his experience with cancer later on. For the time of his treatment, Simon has been supported by his parents, relatives, and friends who provide him with a lot of smiles, hugs, and hope. We, Simon's parents, have been taking time away from work and school to support our 5 y.o. boy with love and care. As months go by and treatments produce positive results (as we all pray and hope for) we will teach our boy to be strong and persevere his fight for a cure.
Please join us to help our family to fight for Simon's survival. WE KNOW YOUR SUPPORT AND PRAYERS WILL BE ANSWERED. YOU ARE SUPPORTING THE FIGHTER AND ADMIRING SURVIVOR.

Simon will be traveling to his Camp Quality USA in Arkansas this June.
We are trying to raise about $900 for our travel and meal expenses related to Simon's commute from Atlanta to Jonesboro, AK. Your small donation will be appreciated
Last year Simon was able to travel to Camp Quality New Jersey, a community-funded non-profit, 501 (C) (3) organization that provides free camping experiences for children with cancer. This trip to New Jersey camp was possible because of some of the donations from our supporters. ( Three photos from the camp been posted below ).
In Georgia ( where Simon lives ) there are no summer camps for younger children been diagnosed with cancer. Older kids are welcome to those camps but Simon is not qualified due to his age. Camp Quality USA supports children with cancer, even in their younger ages, like 5 y.o. or 6 y.o. This year our family plans to send Simon to two different camps outside of Georgia: Camp Quality Arkansas and Camp Quality New Jersey.
I am starting this fundraising campaign to raise about $1500 within the next 60 days to help Simon and our family with travel and accommodations expenses to and from these camps. I will be updating periodically. Please help us to spread the word. And, please, donate.
Excitement awaits Simon and the other cancer warriors in the Magic Kingdom, Sea World, and Universal where dreams do come true. Each day brings new fun and adventure as we navigate the world of Shamu, Mickey and friends, etc… It is an opportunity of a lifetime for our child. The children will be accompanied by our excellent staff and counselors, and will be under the superior medical supervision of Dr. Peter Steinherz of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Simon will be traveling to Disney World this weekend. And our family will incur additional expenses, other than cost provided by www.chailifeline.org
To support our son feel free to donate via this site.
That is fantastic news! It was great seeing Simon at Creme the other day and hope to be able to make it to his birthday party.
I had the amazing opportunity to tutor Simon recently and it was simply awesome! He is so bright for his age, it's actually incredible. At the age of 4.5, he was writing letters, drawing shapes, counting and doing simple addition and subtraction with ease. He loves Paw Patrol so much and every time we took a break from learning, he would take out his Paw Patrol characters and animatedly tell me an adventure story for them he made up. It was astounding to me how energetic and smiling he was, even though he was going through treatment the same day. He and his family are strong and courageous. His parents, Svetlana and Yuri, were super warm and welcoming every time I came to tutor Simon. It was an honor to work with the family and my thoughts remain with them every day.
Thank you so much for providing updates on how Simon is doing. It is great to see him smile and to know that he is able to enjoy some time away from his daily treatments. Please tell Simon Sophia says hello as she often mentions him :-) Our thoughts remain with you all each and every day! The McDaniel Family
I struggle for words to express my heartfelt good wishes for this family. Yuri is one of the best tutors in Atlanta, and has worked tirelessly to make sure that every one of his students succeeds academically-all the while never asking for anything for himself. He goes out of his way to accommodate everyone else, while going through so many challenges personally. Simon is the apple of his parents eye, and this news is devastating. His parents remain devoted to his care and ultimate success. The treatments are daunting for little Simon, but Yuri applies extreme dedication to every situation in a positive, life enhancing way. Needless to say, this can be draining not only financially but emotionally. But Simon and his parents fight on.......
