Remember how happy you were to see them come home.

Veterans Memorial Park for the Nordonia Hills community located at the intersection of Route 82 and South Bedford Road in Macedonia, Ohio.  The park is to honor all veterans who have served our country through the years.

American Legion Nordonia Hills Post #801 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Northfield Post #6768 with your donations hope to have the initial phase completed this year.

The park will consist of a main memorial honoring all veterans.  One side will have emblems of the five branches of the military around a five pointed star and on the pedestal will be “REMEMBER THEM”.  The other side will have inscribed:

                                                            Veteran . . .
                                                             Someone who,
at one point in their life,
                                                             wrote a blank check
                                                             made payable to the
                                                             United States of America
                                                             for an amount “up to
                                                             and including my life”.

In the future we hope to have a KIA plaza listing those Nordonia Hills residents Killed In Action.  It will be accompanied by a reflecting pool and fountain.  In addition there will be up to 10 smaller memorials for each of the major conflicts since the Revolutionary War.

Before we can add the above, ground contouring and walkway construction will need to be done; trees and turf will need planting; as well as, locating and anchoring the handicapped accessible picnic tables and benches throughout the park.  The reflecting pond, which is part of a larger required run-off reservoir, will be dug as well as plumbing for the restrooms.  The entire park will have electricity to provide adequate lighting.

There is much to do and tax deductible donations, such as yours, would be a great help toward bringing this to reality.  You will be honoring veterans and helping develop a beautiful park.

What a great way to remember and celebrate the life of a loved one while helping raise funds to make the Veterans Memorial Park possible.
