About Darren -
Darren is a 9 year old cancer warrior who has been kicking cancers butt since he was just 8 weeks old! On Oct 27, 2009, he began chemo at just 9 weeks old. He has been in active treatment off and on for a total of over 3 years of his 9 years of life so far. His low-glade glioma brain tumor is centered deep down in his brain, leaving surgery to remove the tumor nearly impossible.
Darren absolutely LOVES making people smile, and is an inspiration to so many. He is the oldest of 3 kids, and has a little sister Mia (8) and a little brother Matthew (4) who look up to him. He loves school, loves being the class clown and making everyone laugh, and he LOVES to dance!! Through his trials and hurdles that no child should ever have to endure, Darren always has a smile on his face, and the courage and determination of a warrior! We know that God will bring him through this with an incredible testimony to share with the world!!
Darren recently had scans to check on the status of his disease, unfortunately the scans have shown progression of the disease. This means that the Leonard family will have to, once again, start rounds of chemotherapy at the local children’s hospital . Darren had a Make-A-Wish granted when he was younger in the form of a playhouse in their home. They are now trying to plan a surprise trip to Disney World to provide Darren with some magical memories before they head down this difficult treatment path.
I am starting this Go Fund me page to try to help them offset some of the costs to provide Darren and his family with this trip. Any extra funds will go towards his treatment and the costs associated with it. Hopefully this will take some of the burden and stress away. We know first hand how much an opportunity to build these types of memories really means, and we would be truly thankful for any support!
