Hi. My name is Michelle and I am writing this at the worst time in my life. My common law husband of 12+ years, Darcy, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of lung cancer. It is Stage 3, and has spread to several lymph nodes. He has been given a 20% to 30% chance of survival. To treat it, he will receive aggressive chemotherapy paired with radiation for 8 to 12 weeks.

Along with the diagnoses his boss of three years felt it was necessary to lay him off. On top of this, back in 2013, I was in a horrible car accident in which I sustained very serious injuries i.e. a broken neck, ribs, and a severe brain injury. This has left me dependent on him, both cognitively, as well as to manage my finances.

In the event of his passing, it will not only effect me. He has two older kids of his own who are independent. It will also effect my two children who have disabilities. He helps me support them financially and physically. This campaign will cover the costs of life insurance at a rate of $1,400/monthly, travel to and from appointments at Princess Margaret, medications that aren't covered by the provincial health plan, and if needed, the funeral costs.
