Driving with Darcy

We are raising money to support parents with children with Cancer. Our son, Darcy (pictured here front) was diagnosed with Leukaemia in September 2017. Darcy is 9 years old and we would like to be able to support families during times of difficulty - we would like to raise some money to allow families to take advantage of a short break in a campervan - often during treatment, children can’t go to public places because of a lowered immune system, however if they could get away for a few days in a motorhome or campervan they would be renergised and parents/carers would be able to have a much needed rest with their families. Taking walks and getting some fresh air away from densely populated areas.   

As a family we have owned VW Campervans for over 15 years and had many wonderful touring holidays enjoying the great outdoors. One of the many limitations we have found is being able to provide a balance between his ongoing care needs and maintaining a normal routine to encourage active growth and wellbeing.

We would like to raise money in order to buy a ‘home-from-home’. A lot of cancer charities provide short stay breaks, for example a static caravan on the coast, for families to get some respite and sense of normality. We would like to provide opportunities for families to enjoy short breaks in a location of their choice. A campervan would provide this flexibility – we would like to purchase a Volkswagen T6 Kombi campervan that will allow families to spend quality time together during the difficult times ahead.
