Dansville ArtWorks to relocate to larger space!

Dansville ArtWorks has been operating its community arts center at 178 Main Street, Dansville for nearly two years. Its success has led to a search for larger space in the business district. Over the upcoming Labor Day weekend, Dansville ArtWorks will celebrate the start of year three with a grand reopening in its new location: 153 Main Street, between John Putney’s law office and Miss Natale’s Dance Centre.

Parallel to ArtWorks’ need for more room were changes 153 Main building owner Shannon Mays was planning for her business, Spinnanagan’s, located in the same building. Coincidentally, ArtWorks rented from Mays previously in December 2014 for its “test” pop-gallery. Shannon offered, “My spin exercise classes have steadily grown, and I had various ideas of how to utilize the building’s space differently. When ArtWorks’ board of directors approached me, I was encouraged by the timing of our similar needs. I know that ArtWorks has been a positive addition to Main Street, Dansville, and I am thrilled to partner with them (again!) to accommodate their growth and continued presence in our community.”

Dansville ArtWorks’ board president Nicole Alioto commented, “We have been fortunate to partner with Susan and Randy DeMuth over the past two years. Their storefront provided us a wonderful place to build the foundation of the community arts center, and their graciousness and continual promotion of Dansville ArtWorks to their customers has been invaluable. We will miss them, but know we are all committed to the same thing … successful downtown Dansville businesses. As for moving to the larger space at 153 Main, it’s like going home.” The 153 Main Street location will continue to provide exhibit and performance space, retail space for consignment artists, and an enhanced workshop space that will allow for a wider variety of classes.
