Danihers Tribute - The Big Football

Donation protected
The small community of Ungarie is raising money to build a giant Sherrin football to pay tribute to the AFL’s most famous family - the Danihers.

Essendon’s favourite sons, Terry, Neale, Anthony and Chris Daniher were all born and raised in Ungarie before going on to own a permanent place in AFL folklore as the only set of four brothers to ever play together in a premiership match.

They are true Essendon and AFL legends who continue to this day to inspire us all with their achievements both on and off the field.

The Ungarie Advancement Group wants to erect a five metre high Sherrin (800 kilograms) in the Main Street of Ungarie to celebrate and immortalise the stunning achievements of the Danihers.

The project will provide a significant tourism boost to the small rural town by attracting Essendon and AFL followers from across the country to view this unique piece of Australiana and see for themselves where the Daniher legend was born.

The Advancement Group has secured a $30,000 loan from Bland Shire Council (which they will fundraise to repay) but require at least another $30,000 to ensure the project can go ahead and be completed as a matter of priority by the end of this year.

All donations are gratefully accepted with incentive packages available for all pledges of $100 or over.

To discuss further sponsorship/support options or for enquiries about the project please phone Craig Sutton on 0428 249 929 or Rebecca McDonell on 0435 900 764.
