I have been waiting to release new music to my fans for many years now and the time has finally come. I've released "Crazy", and you guys have gone bonkers for it! The last month is a month that I have been really proud of, and I wouldn't be here without you.

THE TOUR


In order to make sure that "Crazy" has the best possible shot on radio charts I have to go on a radio tour across Canada to meet the music directors and DJ's that will spin the song. An amazing team has been hired who is putting together this radio tour. The tour will consist of 3-5 radio stations and television station visits a day for two weeks straight. This tour will take place across Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. At the end of the tour I will be working for 5 nights straight to put together two major shows (Guelph and Collingwood), with a full band.  Then back to Nashville I go!


THE NEXT 12 MONTHS


I have an incredible group of industry professionals working with me. There is a full Canadian and Australian PR team and radio team. This team has put together a full 12 month plan that includes performances and appearances at major industry events (Canadian Country Music Week in Alberta, Tamworth Music Festival in Australia, County Music Association of Ontario, etc.) Also, over the next 12 months there will be more recording, more singles released, more videos released and hopefully more touring. We will be putting together an Electronic Press Kit (EPK) which involves recording and filming. This is needed to apply for music festivals in all three countries (CA, AUS, USA). The plan is to start touring America as well as Canada and Australia. Ultimately, a PR team, radio promotion team and management in America is what we are after.


THE RADIO TOUR COST


With the plan to reach new audiences and give "Crazy" and my original career the best shot possible there are a lot of expenses that need to be covered. With the help of a FACTOR grant from the government for $2000, I have paid for the rest of my teams cost on my own. Radio promotion and PR for Canada, PR and radio tracking in Australia, plus the video content and recording costs have been well over $10, 000. I have spent my savings and the rest I have put on credit and am slowly paying down monthly.

This two week tour, plus one week for rehearsals for the two local shows will be a big expense. I will need accommodation almost every night on tour, (besides the few nights in Ontario where I am close enough to home that I can drive back home between). Flights will be purchased to get to Alberta, and once in Alberta I will need accommodation each night, plus a rental car to get around to each radio station, plus I will need to eat! For these three weeks, I will also be off work and not making any income.


THE PERFORMANCE COST


For the two shows in Ontario (Guelph and Collingwood) there will be major expenses. We are hiring musicians for three nights of paid rehearsals, then two paid performances. We will be hiring sound engineers for the shows. We will also be hiring a videography company for both performances, and all three rehearsals, plus extra shooting on a separate day to put together an EPK. On top of this, there will be extensive advertising online and in print to make sure that the tickets are sold. The Collingwood venue is not large enough to cover the cost of the event, if we sell the performance out, we will not break even. Any money that we make from the Guelph event, will go to covering any expenses leftover. These shows are not only important for me to keep in contact with my fans, but also to build up enough online to presence to major festivals and show cases.


WHEN


This tour is being booked for February 25th until March 9th. The following week will consist of rehearsals in Guelph, then the performances in Guelph and Collingwood. As soon as any money is donated, it will pay for flights to and from Alberta, hotel rooms, rental cars and other traveling expenses.

Crazy, the debut radio single by Canadian Country Singer/Songwriter Danielle Todd, is one of those songs that will stop you in your tracks. Highlighted by passionate and compelling vocals, a universal message about the disarming nature of love, and a vibrant production that will please music lovers across many genres, Todd has seemingly solved the magical formula of how to meld the best elements of modern musical styles with a singer/songwriter’s touch for lyrical depth and literacy. At its heart, Todd has poured her own experiences and those of many others into a charming, melody-rich song which speaks of the kind of the silly madness that deep, passionate love can evoke in all of us. 

 “I could write heartbreak songs for days, but I have been writing more upbeat and happier songs lately because that’s what I find fun and I find is needed these days. Crazy is fun; it’s one of those songs you bop along to when it comes on in the car,” said Todd, a native of Guelph, Ontario.  

Crazy is a strong statement from an artist who is unafraid to be herself, to write music that is perhaps a little outside the country mainstream, but an artist that truly knows how to connect with an audience. It was penned alongside a couple of other up-and-coming writer/performers, Caitie Thompson and Bobbi Holliday, but imbued with Todd’s potently natural charm, enthusiasm and honesty. 

After a decade of performing in venues across Ontario, Todd moved to Nashville three years ago, where she has dedicated herself to honing her chops as a writer, as well as becoming an in-demand performer on the competitive local club scene. 

As a writer, she has learned from countless songwriting sessions across the breadth of musical genres, ending up with a classic country sound infused with the exceptionally well crafted, memorable pop sensibilities of her first musical inspirations. 

As a youngster, Todd was first drawn to the powerhouse pop/soul performances of the likes of Whitney Houston and especially Mariah Carey – the later because she tended to write more of her own music. 

“That’s when I fell in love with Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Martina McBride and Michelle Wright and I began to really love and appreciate country music. So, there was Mariah, and those wonderful female country artists, including Dolly Parton, but I also remember really loving the Wilson Philips album which taught me how to sing and write vocal harmony, which has become a huge part of my own sound,” she said. 

Nashville is a welcoming city for new talent, but it can also eat you alive if you are not prepared for the hothouse mentality of the songwriting sessions, the round the clock production schedules and the endless gigging and showcasing – all of which is necessary to just make a living. 

Danielle wasted no time once arriving in Nashville. She became a gigging musician right out of the gate, learning more than 250 cover songs, across a broad spectrum of genres, pulling in some backing musicians and began working the vibrant club scene along the main musical street in Nashville, Broadway. 

In reality, Todd has two full time jobs. The first is as a songwriter and recording artist. The second is as a performer. The second sustains the first. And it’s the way one pays their dues in Music City USA. 

“Its not unusual for me to gig five to seven days a week, and it’s not unusual for me to play 14 days in a row if I get asked to pick up some last-minute shows” she says. “On Broadway, every single bar has three or more floors and every floor has a band and there are four shifts seven days a week on every floor. And it never stops.” 

“It’s the most insane place to work. But it’s fun, it’s high energy. I am meeting literally thousands of people a day. And I take what I learn and bring it into my songwriting sessions, which usually take place earlier in the day.” 

While she pays her dues in Nashville, home is where her heart is and will always be, so Todd is thrilled to release her debut radio single in Canada. Crazy is the opening act to what promises to be an intriguing, fulsome and successful solo career of an exceptional performer who, will undoubtedly make audiences stop, look and listen whenever they hear one of her potently memorable songs.





FINAL THOUGHTS

These are just a few of the costs for two events in the next 12 months that are planned. I will also be flying back and forth between Nashville and Canada for showcases, live performances, radio events, Canadian Country Music week, etc. Which, again, means I will not be working, but I will be spending.

This $5000 will help me get through the next six months of my career. I would be very grateful for any help I receive. I am incredibly excited about the next 12 months and I really think that "Crazy", and the other songs I have lined up to follow my debut single, can be a big success. Ultimately, I want to be able to bring you more videos, more music and more performances. The only thing that is holding me back are the funds. Every little bit helps and I appreciate everyone who has been helping thus far.
