8/1/2023: It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I'm writing to inform you that Danielle received her Angel's Wings earlier this evening. She fought a courageous fight for seven plus years and continued to fight to the very end. She was an inspiration to all of us. Danielle's family was with her when she passed. Please keep her family in your prayers as they go through their grieving process.

7/26/2023:
It's been a roller coaster the last 10 days. Danielle was admitted to the ER on Saturday, July 15th due to difficulty breathing. A CT scan found her cancer had spread to her airways along with having viral pneumonia. One of the tumors had grown around her trachea which was restricting her breathing. The team decided that 10 days of radiation given on business days would be tried to shrink the tumors which would be a slow process. She ended up needing to go to the ICU after one radiation treatment due to not getting enough oxygen. She was intubated on Friday, July 21st to get a better oxygen mask fit so she could get more oxygen. At this time, Danielle is stable, some of the pain meds have been lowered, and she has tolerated three radiation treatments so far. She is communicating by signing and writing on a whiteboard. Danielle slept well last night and is awake though drowsy.

In true Danielle form, she meets all obstacles thrown at her and continues to fight this cancer. She is an inspiration to all of us.

Danielle and her family are overwhelmed with the support that they have continued to receive from family and friends. Prayers, prayers, and more prayers would be greatly appreciated.

9/2/2021: Danielle has been fighting cancer for almost 5 years now. She started out with osteosarcoma in her left jaw bone. She had chemotherapy and then surgery to take out 2/3 of her jaw bone and reconstruction of her jaw. Unfortunately, they found out that they did not get clear margins from her bone and they had to go back in and take out the rest of her jaw and reconstruct it. Chemo and radiation followed. One and a half years later, cancer had metastasized to her left lung and they needed to remove the lobe after chemo sessions to shrink it. Late this summer, Danielle's jaw became swollen along with having some sores in her mouth which they thought was an infection and gave her antibiotics for it. Danielle had scans in August where they found two nodules in her right lung. She was given chemo and the next day, the infection in her jaw was worse. The doctors are treating her as if she has necrosis which is death of body/bone tissue so she is getting antibiotics and steroids trying to rejuvenate the bone in her jaw. She will have her second dose of chemo for her lung nodules on the 15th of September.

It has been a hard and long 5 years with ups and downs. The family is thankful for all the thoughts, support, and help that their friends and family have given them. Please keep Danielle and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
