Daniel Lizarraga Memorial Bench

We would like to honor Daniel Lizarraga with a memorial bench at Highland Elementary School. Daniel has been an employee with Monterey Peninsula Unified School district for over 10 years working in the Special Education Department as an Instructional Aide.
We recently lost Danny on June 18th, 2018. It was very devastating to all of our staff and students. He had a large impact on students, staff, parents and his classroom coworkers at Highland. "Mr. Danny" as the students called him took the time to get to know each individual student by name; during recess he would play basketball, make paper airplanes, ask them how their day was going, anything to show that he cared about each kid. Outside of his classroom Danny became very close with the students in the after school program where he also worked this past school year.
In the classroom Danny was described as "the most patient and kindhearted man." He was always willing to help in whatever way he could. The students loved him and he had a deep connection with each one of them.
Danny had a wonderful personality and a smile that lit up the whole campus and we hope to add something to remember the light he brought to all of us.
We are asking for family and friends to help us raise money to help buy two large round cement benches to put outside the special education class where Danny worked. No amount is too small, anything helps. We would like to purchase the benches as soon as possible and they will be installed in Spring 2019.
