Dance and movement are a vital force for creating change and promoting progress as it is a direct reflection of our evolving humanity. We view dance as a powerful form that channels and interprets the human experience in a way that moves us and brings us together. We want to create a platform that prioritizes inclusion, and to grow and elevate our community as we create.
The primary intention of this project is to provide a sustainable vehicle for developing innovative dance works, showcasing seasoned independent and active emerging dance voices, while making space for artists to support and celebrate each other throughout the creative process. We believe in utilizing our artist talents and resources to empower and foster change within alternative communities and their cause. Through the support of a duel sponsorship , we work to combine forces in fostering relevance and growth of our art and the charity at large.
We believe that art should not exist as an exclusive entity, or merely within it’s own community, as is often the case. The art created under this umbrella will be used to give back to causes that will benefit the communities in which we operate, in addition to enriching the cultural landscape and shining light on innovative talent.
Our choreographers are working independent artists. We stand behind the vast talent that is often overlooked or underexposed solely due to lack of institutional support. The voices we curate are unique, diverse, and provide a wide range of perspectives and profound depth of experience represented in the artform. We intend for our creators to use this platform as a spotlight to showcase their artistic voice and as a springboard for greater opportunities within the community and beyond. Through generating a larger artistic voice that is empowered by a cause in great need, the creators will develop and expand their sense of leadership and artistic worth.
We intend to use this platform to bring together professional movers from a great variety of dance companies and performance backgrounds. We aim to provide the space for the dancers to learn and grow, enriching their performance and networking experience.
Our audience is comprised of any and all lovers of dance, art, expression, and joy. We intend to use all tools and resources available to us in order to bring dance not just to dance aficionados, but rather make it accessible to all through video, social media, and outreach.
This platform initiative will not only aid the dance community through providing opportunity for new creation, but also serve the Chicagoland community as a whole. Each new work presented will be created with ideas related to themes of the sponsored charity.
Half of the proceeds of this choreographic event will be granted to the children of Make a Wish Foundation in order to assist and ensure their sponsored wishes come true.
