Dancing for a Cause: An Advocate's Dream

$2,225 of $2,000 goal

We're excited to announce that our Executive Director, Ann McCarty and her amazing dance instructor Sabrina Ross will be participating in Dance Lompoc 2019 . The work that Center Advocates do is tough....and this is one way we can have some fun and raise some money for this awesome cause. Won't you join us in making a difference by supporting the Center...and Ann's efforts?

Building off of the fun story (Flat Stanley) that was written in her birth year, "Flat Ann" (as we are calling her) wishes she had time to travel around and talk to everyone about the work she and her advocates do, why it's so important to support survivors of sexual violence, and to remind everyone that their Voice Has Power. But since she has to practice for the big event being held on March 30th right here in Lompoc, she'd love for you to help her spread the word, and share the passion of "Flat Ann". Share this post far and wide, donate what you can, and take a picture with your "Flat Ann" (feel free to print her picture). We'd love for you to post your picture to our FB page @ncrccpc or our Instagram #ncrccpc.

Ann and Sabrina would dearly love to win the coveted  "People's Choice Award" and one way to do so is get the most "people" votes. What that means is that every dollar raised for the Center between now and March 25th is a vote towards that prize!  While winning the prize would be awesome....what's even more awesome is that every dollar raised goes right back into our community helping us provide vital intervention services for survivors of sexual assault and child abuse as well as the many educational programs the Center has to offer. Once again....every dollar raised through this campaign counts as a vote towards the People's Choice Award!!  So, you can see why raising money is so important on multiple levels.....we win (wink, wink)...and our community wins because we are able to continue our work!

If you'd like more information about what the Center is all about, need some help, want to volunteer, or want to be involved on any other level, feel free to contact us. If you'd like to donate directly to the Center, we'd be more than happy to accept your gift and it can be mailed to P.O. Box 148, Lompoc, CA 93438.  The mission of the Center is simple: We aim each and every day to reduce the incidence of and vulnerability to sexual assault, child abuse and human trafficking by providing education and prevention skills to community children and adults, and to alleviate the trauma experienced by survivors of these crimes by providing direct services...but we can't do this work without you. Help us have some fun all the while raising money for a great cause!  Every dollar helps us achieve both goals and we are so appreciative to you for your help!! Thank you!!

Dear Friends and Family, As we near the end of this GoFundMe event for our upcoming Dance Lompoc 2019 participation, I have to say that I am completely humbled by your generosity and outpouring of support. As you can see, we have surpassed the $2,000 mark, but little did you know that we are just $338 away from a personal goal that I set. I’m not asking you to donate more, I’m simply asking you to share this event one more time, talk to your friends and family about what it is we do, share with them the good work and the NEED for us. While my journey is about to end as the competition is just 11 days away, a survivor’s journey never ends. Thank you all for who you are and what you mean to us. We can’t do this work without you! Oh…and stay tuned for a video showcasing all of “Flat Ann’s” journeys across the land after the event. It’s been a fun ride for sure!! Think about that $338 for a second…not even a dollar a day for the next year….or if you have one friend that can donate $25….all we need is about 14 more friends, right? I’m not one for public math…but this seems so simple to me…and so reachable! Let’s do this!

Friends....we are just 16 very short days away from the big event on March 30th and are forever grateful for the overwhelming support we've received! Many, many thanks to each of you for your donations, shares, likes, and support. While it may seem like we've surpassed our goal...let me remind you, that some journeys never end. In the work we do, a dollar goes a very long way and we do our best to make the absolute best of it. If you are able, I kindly ask you to consider donating to the cause....because in the end, we can't do this work without you. As for the journey of "Flat Ann" to bring awareness...and a bit of fun...it's been so much fun to share and have the pictures come back to us. We so appreciate all that you've done...and encourage you to continue to share...because our fight is far from done! Blessings to you all! ~Ann

Happy March Everyone!! It's hard to believe we started this fundraising effort 14 days ago..look how far we've come! Thank you so much for the outpouring of support and for the very generous and kind donations thus far. As I sit here thinking about how blessed we are to have a community of folks that believe in the work we do, I can't help but wonder how many people still don't know about the difference we make. While it may appear as if we have almost reached out goal...in reality, we still have a long way to go. I hate to keep moving the needle on this thing...but think for a second what a rape survivor goes through in the system...how the finish line for them never seems to arrive, or how a child may feel when they feel like no one is listening, or how an advocate feels for a survivor when the system feels so unjust. These are the things I think about, and why it's so important for us to continue to fund raise...and why I'll be upping our goal again. I continue to try and put things in perspective for each of you in the hopes that you will share our FUNdraiser so that others will learn about and support our important work! Thanks for your positive spirit and for continuing to lift us up!! #ncrccpc #frolickingflatann

Hello everyone! First of all THANK YOU so much for your support thus far. On behalf of the Center, we are incredibly grateful for your your generosity and support. While it may seem as if we have almost met our goal....our goal is actually much bigger, but like survivors, we want to take the journey in small steps. I've been thinking a lot about this fundraiser and what it really means and thought I’d share some thoughts with you. For those of you who know the work we do…you know it’s hard. Each and every day we ask survivors to step outside of their comfort zone by talking about what happened to them. We also go into classrooms, meetings, and other presentations and we talk about the hard subjects, we don’t shy away from any topic, because in order for us to end sexual violence and child abuse, we have to have these critical discussions. Stepping outside of our comfort zone is a daily practice for each and every survivor, every parent, every loved one….as well as every single staff and volunteer that works at the Center. If I can’t step outside of my comfort zone and dance a little to raise money for the Center…how can I ever look a survivor in the eye and ask them to trust me to step out of theirs? This is why this event is so important to us and why we need your support. Help us continue to inspire, validate, and be there for those in need. If you’ve already donated, thank you…but if you haven’t, and you can…we’d sure appreciate it.
What you don’t know is how much of an impact your donation is so here it is broken down a bit:
• $1,000 funds 40-hours of assistance for teens identified as Commercially Sexually Exploited Children.
• $750 funds three months of 24-hour hotline accessibility for survivors of sexual assault and others in crisis.
• $500 funds the Center’s ChildSAFE prevention education two-day workshops for one school. The Center provides these workshops in all north county secondary schools.
• $250 funds the provision of art supplies for a six-week survivor support group, for an average of seven people.
• $100 funds an average of four hours of advocacy for a law enforcement accompaniment.
• $50 funds four survivors with clothes to wear home after a SART/Rape Kit exam. The Center averages three SART’s a month.
• $25 provides one survivor with one hour of counseling.

Thank you for helping us spread the word!
