Dan Villani Heart Transplant

Donation protected
Dan Villani needs our support!

Dan had his first heart attack at the young age of 39. Then,  a little over two years ago, he survived the "widowmaker" at age 56 but never fully recovered. His heart was severely damaged and was only functioning at 15%. It was hard to see him struggle. He had to ask for help and rely on his friends and family.  Additionally, he had to wear a defibrillator vest for months. Then came the pacemaker/defibrillator that was placed in his chest. Next, he had a heart ablation. His  heart failure was diagnosed and he was referred to Ohio State's Ross Heart Hospital this past fall. After many procedures, we were told he had developed pulmonary hypertension and needed a  heart transplant.

We received the call on December 14th about a possible donor and rushed to Columbus. At 4:38 am on December 15, 2016,  my dad was blessed with a new heart! We thank God for this gift and pray that the donors family finds comfort in knowing that they saved my dad.  Please consider being an organ donor. You could be a hero to eight different families!

It is amazing how many people love and respect my father. We see it every single day from his colleagues and friends. Not only is he a wonderful husband and an amazing father to Jordan and I, but he has been an incredible and loving "pappy" to Laiken and Brooklyn.

My parents will be facing some very high medical expenses even though they have medical insurance. This includes the co-pays, previous hospital stays,  and he will be spending the next few weeks recovering in Columbus. The expensive post transplant anti-rejection medications are required for the rest of his life, and unfortunately are not fully covered by insurance.  He will also have to travel to Columbus at least 17 times within the first year alone for medical appointments and procedures. It would be great if my parents could focus on his recovery and not on the finances.

To help with the financial burden of Dan's expenses, a fundraising campaign has been established via GoFundMe.

We sincerely thank you for all of your prayers, support and generosity. We will provide updates about his health while on this transplant journey.
