Daisy Needs Back Surgery

$6,500 of $6,500 goal

My dog Daisy (a dachshund) has slipped a disk in her back and is in extreme need of surgery.  She can't walk or even use the bathroom in her current condition.  All she's able to do is sit in a basket with a diaper on and look miserable.  It's really heart breaking.

The vet is currently giving her steroid shots to help her make it through the days and the pain, but have been very honest with us that surgery is only thing that can fix her condition.

The money raised will go directly to getting surgery on Daisy's back.  The vet told us it would be $6,500 at the most, since they can't predict complications or other needs that may arise.  So figure this would be the best route to go, so we can be prepared if anything goes wrong during surgery.

We need the funds as soon as humanly possible, because the longer we wait, the worse she'll get.  We want to get her this surgery before the effects are irreversible.

Daisy means a lot to me, and even though I don't see her as much, due to my wife and I's separation, that doesn't make Daisy any less important to me.   I mean, I even made her a character in my old comic Femmegasm, as a cartoon dog.  Daisy and my wife have a very special bond, and despite some issues I have with my wife at the moment, that's a bond I'd never want to break.  Daisy is also extremely special to my daughter.  So yeah, she's a very important part of the family, you could say.

I would be extremely thankful for any help I can get. This has been a heartbreaking experience for us all, and we just want Daisy to be okay.

Even if you can't donate, I appreciate that you took the time to look at this.  Thank you.

Just additional info about the preceduere:  https://wagwalking.com/condition/intervertebral-disc-disease

I had someone claim that I was asking for too much, but as you can see from the link above, the average for this type of surgery is $9K and it can go up to $15, so the amount I'm asking for is far from unreasonable.

Just wanted to give some verification that everything is legit here.

Daisy is starting to stand and walk again. It’s very unstable, but it’s definitely a huge improvement.

Thanks again to everyone who helped get her to this point.

Thanks again, everyone who has donated.

Daisy is currently going through water based physical therapy and is showing great signs of improvement.

Currently she can only stand on her back legs for brief periods of time, but it's still a massive improvement from not being able to use them at all.

Couldn't have done it without you guys. Thanks a lot.

So I got a threat on Tumblr today saying exactly

"You're either lying or the vet is. Post the vets number on your fundme page and name of dog. Otherwise I'll have it shut down. A slipped disk does not cost $6500, especially on a small breed dog. 15 hours to post info or it gets shut down."

Now first of all, it's claiming I need to post the name of the dog... when it says right in the title "Daisy Needs Back Surgery", jeez... I wonder what the dog's name could be...

Needless to say this threat has me quite upset since I'm worried about Daisy, and this dweeb feels the need to threaten me.

The cost given was the high end, the amount they advised to have in case of complications, which is possible for a dog her age, among other things.

Furthermore I sleep all day, because I work third shift at my job... so there was no way I could get what this guy is requesting in 15 hours. It's all very frustrating and concerning.

I mean, I'm sure it would take more than one person to make bogus claims at me for Gofundme to shut me down, but I'm also new to this site, so I can't say I'm too sure.

The point is, do you guys trust me? Do you want me to call the vet and get details on why they claim the price? Should I worry about this guy's threats? Let me know.

Daisy is still in need of donations. She has currently started having blood in her urine and feces. We are trying to get her to see a vet ASAP.
