Dacx Photographer Robbery Fund

Hi, my name is Darrick Foster. However, most persons know me as Dacx. I'm 23 years old and I've been working as a photographer/videographer/content creator since the latter part of high school and throughout my college years. I graduated from college last year to continue the growth of my company and I've worked with multiple clients both  locally and internationally. I've put my all into building my business and tried to help as many young upcoming visionaries like myself.

It is with a heavy heart that I must share this frightening experience with you all. On March 3, 2017 at 5:20pm after concluding a fashion photo shoot at a location near Bull Bay, St. Thomas (Jamaica), myself and 3 others, including the model, were held up at gun point. The 2 gun men had us on the ground (guns to heads) constantly threatening us, saying things like "if you move or look up, you're dead", while they proceeded to clean out the car of all our belongings. After hitting’ jackpot’ with our belongings, we were luckily spared and ordered at gun point to run away and not look back.

 I was robbed of:

Canon 70d
Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens
Canon Speedlite 430EX II
Nikon SB-900 AF Speedlight Flash
Neewer 5 in 1 Portable Multi 40"x 60"/100 x 150CM Camera Lighting Reflector/Diffuser Kit
Meking 12 Inch (31cm) Gray Card Portable Softbox Multi-function Diffuser for Speedlight
SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB SDHC UHS-I Card...
amongst other small items and clothes in my bag. My colleagues were robbed of their computer, phones, clothes and shoes used for the shoot, cash and other personal items- anything they could empty from our pockets.

Fortunately, they did not find my phone so I was able to alert the police a few minutes after. However, the way we were dealt with by the police after contacting them was close to being pointless. The initial emergency telephone operator was not able to identify the area we were describing. She took my number and advised us to go to nearest police station (didn't receive a call back). We travelled for about 15 minutes after finding the nearest station via Google maps in Rockfort.

Shattered, traumatized, distraught and shaken, we reported to the police officer at the front desk. However, she was of no help and told us they were changing shifts and no one would be able to accompany us to the location (our suggestion).

She told us to head to the closest police station in Harbour View. Finding the station alone was difficult (wasn't published on Google maps till I did so) and we lost more time trying to salvage anything of the situation. Finally, after finding the station, we reported what happened, but there was no action.

We waited and waited for a unit to address us to the point of frustration where we finally got an answer from another police to head to the HQ on Elletson Road to make the report (note this is 1.5 hours after the holdup). We must commend the officers at the HQ as they handled the situation professionally and with urgency, although by that time any efforts of recovery would be futile.

I am   launching an appeal for assistance to get back on track with our work. I would appreciate all the possible assistance at this time in order to kick start the process of recovering what was stolen so I can jump back to doing what I love in order to make others smile and continue the business.

There are   quite a few upcoming projects this month and some friends and associates have committed to helping with the rental of equipment until things are up and running, but we would appreciate all the financial assistance to reduce the blow.
You can check out some of my latest works at here .

This is also a reminder to all to be vigilant and extra careful of your surroundings.

It is   sad that sometimes if you wait for the powers that be, you get no justice. This will not stop me from going forward.

Nothing can kill my passion. Stay safe peeps.
