Da Mantra Vegan Cafe, Permaculture Garden and Public Temple Tiruvannamalai, India.
Water systems:This season we need to tackle our main issue which is WATER ! Our aim is not only to become self-sustainable for our water supply but also provide a place where local people can get a supply of clean drinking water. This last year Tamil Nadu had major water shortage issues and we want to make sure we are not adding to that, while also creating a positive example, as well as offering the gift of good water to local people.
This will be done in stages:
1) gather all of our rainwater from the roof of the temple and cafe. Requires guttering and a collection tank.
2) suitable waste water filtration system for our site. The near by Auroville community have developed a number of water purifying systems which you can see here: http://research.auroville.org/system/papers/attachments/000/000/601/original/Natural_Dewats.pdf
This will give us the ability to recycle our waste water providing a self sustaining water system
3) Purchasing a water purifying system suitable for producing 500 litres of purified water an hour. Again the nearby community of Auroville have developed a technology that uses ultra violet, special biofilters and a vortex system with light & sound that creates, not only purified water but also energised oxygenated water. This will give us the means to offer our guests and local people a source of pure clean drinking water.

4) Dishwasher - we use a lot of water in washing up so we want to purchase this dishwashing machine specifically designed for Asia. It will provide sterilisation with ultra low water usage, and is reliable with low operating costs

Permaculture Garden : This year we want to put in place the beginnings of our Unity Garden. This will provide not only ingredients for the cafe but also a wonderful opportunity for our guests to do service, as well as education on permaculture to locals and we are hoping to also have playful education with local children.

Music : last year we became one of the key venues for musicians to play as the experience and space are so conducive to Sacred Music Offerings and concerts. We saw a number of musicians, both friends and musicians from the local music community in India, come and offer Sacred Occasions, Kirtans and other collaborations. In order to support this incredibly thriving scene we need a small but high quality PA system. We have been recommended a small portable system designed by BOSE that would give the best sound for its size and cost.

Public temple : This season we will be roofing our public temple. This will provide a space for daily yoga, video satsangs, puja, Concious Light film showings, sacred music offerings, education, retreats and also a potential space for groups to use for events. The space is being designed as a beautiful temple space, but also with the ability to be used in other ways. We need funding for the new roof, chairs and the interior furniture, Murti , cushions etc
