Help Rachel Get Back on Her Feet

After spending most of her life growing up in foster homes, Rachel, at the age of 20, decided to start a new life in San Diego with her boyfriend of 3 years. Her plan was eventually save enough money so she could attend college.
As fate would have it, Rachel’s boyfriend has left her, leaving her alone in a new city, with a large financial burden of having to pay for the rent they were meant to split. Instead of being able to save for college, Rachel now finds herself unable to pay her living expenses. Rachel is extremely hard working and has asked her employer for additional hours, only to find out her employer is actually reducing her weekly hours. The stress is now aggravating her asthma, and she has been to the hospital 5 times in the last 3 months. However, she continues to search for a second job.
I met Rachel 4 months ago, and in all this time, she has never complained to me about her situation, until just now. She was doing my makeup and “lost it”. I had no idea how dire her situation is. I feel terribly for my new friend.
Her landlord has given her until Feb. 6th to pay her rent, and she is $600 short. We are working to eventually find a cheaper living situation for her, and another job with more hours so things can get better for her.
Rachel doesn't want to beg for help but I feel we must at least try. Rachel has never had parents or close family to help navigate her through life and she has so much potential to do good.
I can't wait for her to get past this bump in the road and I know she will make herself, and me, proud. But right now, paying this rent is the only thing that will keep her sane and keep her going.
