Set the Prisoner Free

Donation protected
This campaign is to raise money for a woman in an Eastern European country who was falsely accused of embezzlement. We cannot share her name nor where she is as it would jeopardize her situation. Because she dutifully signed papers her boss put in front of her, when the embezzlement was discovered the boss had the money but she was sent to prison in 2015 for eight years. She is a believer in Christ as is her husband and they have one young daughter who is now 6 years old . While in prison she has helped to start a church among jail mates and has a stellar record of behavior.  Her term has been reduced to 6-1/2 years, BUT she cannot be released from prison ,even on her excellent behavior, until the debt is paid. Even when she is released after her full-term, she must still pay the debt she unjustly owes and she has no means of returning the money.  It is a catch-22 situation with no exit unless we can help her. There is much injustice and corruption in this which is always disturbing, but there is no other way to set this woman free.

Coralee and I are and have been missionaries with Cru in E. Europe since 1975 and we were the leaders of the Cru ministry from 2000 until 2010 in this country. We have continued to maintain deep friendships with our staff there and have followed the plight of this woman for the past five years closely as our staff have reached out to minister to her and her family. She has appealed again and again, but the reason she cannot be released is that she cannot pay back the money.  We are well acquainted with everyone seeking to help this woman.

The entirety of your donation less the 2.9% GoFundMe fee will be donated to the payment of the court mandated remittal of $26,000. The collected money will be transferred to Cru administrative personnel who will in turn pay the court the proper amount so that our goal of this woman's freedom can be accomplished legally and without delay. Please join us in helping to set her free.  If you would like more details about this that we cannot share publicly, please contact us.

In addition to the woman's situation, her husband has non-functioning kidneys and has recently miraculously been given a kidney transplant. He is still adjusting and it has not been an easy journey for him dealing with health and also trying to raise their daughter alone.
