Sawyer is my adorable 2 year old nephew who last week was diagnosed with Type B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL). Sawyer is your typical sweet and very energetic 2 year old who loves playing with his older brother Nolan. A few weeks ago he came down with some flu like symptoms. After multiple hospital stays and weeks of testing at Riley Children’s Hospital the bone marrow biopsy last week confirmed that it is in fact Leukemia.
Sawyer has already started his chemotherapy treatment to start fighting his cancer. His family is currently staying at Riley for the beginning of his treatment. Then they will be traveling down weekly for his treatments and continued testing.
As you can imagine going from “my child has a fever” to he now has cancer in a matter of weeks can be shocking, overwhelming and devastating for any family. My goal in starting this GoFund for them is to help relieve some of the anxiety and stress for them as their family begins this new journey.
This fundraiser will provide his family with the resources necessary for his treatment. All funds generated from this account will be used to pay for costs associated with the treatment; continued tests, transfusions, spinal taps, surgeries, bone marrow biopsies, chemotherapy treatment, hospital stays, doctor visits, weekly travel to Indianapolis and the time spent off of work for both parents.
