Hill Family in Need After Unexpected Illness

Donation protected
***UPDATE***

We have just reached our THIRD goal of $10,000 in three days! It is humbling to see how many people care for the Hill family. Many of the comments made on this page as well as the Facebook posts have been read to Grandad. He is forever grateful and deeply humbled by the kindness of those he interacted with over the years. Thank you, everyone, for your generosity. You have all made a huge impact on the situation.

I will move the goal of the GoFundMe to $15k to keep it active so people can continue to donate who have not yet had a chance. But this has by far exceeded expectations and you should all be very proud of yourselves for how successful you have made this.

Hey Everyone,

This GoFundMe is being put together for Forrest Hill and his family who were recently hit with some bad news.

You see, up until recently, Forrest was the primary caretaker of the household. He (alongside one of three sons - Max) on a daily basis, took care of the yard, fed the chickens, planted and tended to the garden, fixed motors of all kinds for people from all over, cooked meals, cared for his wife who needed daily assistance after overcoming health setbacks of her own, helped raise his grandson, organized multiple charity festivals... The list goes on.

Very recently, he began to feel ill and decided to get checked out by a doctor. It was then that he was diagnosed with cirrhosis and late-stage Liver Cancer. His initial prognosis was 9 months. He was presented with an option for treatment where they would insert radioactive balls in his Liver to help slow down the Cancer so it wouldn't spread. Their outlook after treatment was 18-24 months. So he did some research and ultimately decided to try this treatment to extend his time.

After treatment, he was re-evaluated a week later. At that time, they said the treatment was ineffective as it was too little too late. The same day, the re-evaluation also decreased his outlook from the original 9 months to 90 days.

He thought he would have at least 9 months to get affairs in order and now it all needed to be crammed into 90 days.

He has trouble hearing, fluid in his stomach that requires draining every 2 days, extreme nausea, fatigue, difficulty speaking, lack of appetite among other symptoms. It's nearly impossible for him to get any of what he had planned, completed as it's a struggle to do even the basic of tasks. Family spanning from Ohio to Georgia have come together to work on the necessities that he is no longer capable of doing himself.

His main concern that is continually repeated is that he wants his wife and family to be taken care of when he's gone. As previously stated, he was the primary caregiver as well as the primary income provider of the household. Life insurance isn't in the picture and they still have a mortgage. The family is working on a few things to help take care of the mortgage but there are so many other expenses outside of this. Medical bills, Car payments, Final Arrangements, Burial Plot, all of which are weighing on the minds of his direct family members. There is no telling if the goal set in this GoFundMe is enough but it would at least help take the edge off of some of this.

He has spent so much of his time helping others in their times of need; spent so much time raising funds for various charities. It would be a crime not to set up a charity in his (and his family's) time of need.

There are many of you out there already familiar with the situation and would love to help. Distance may be an issue for you or even just the timing of it all. That is why this page is being created. So those who would love to help in some way can make an impact no matter where in the world you're located.

Forrest is a lover of music, an avid Story-Teller, a Fisherman, a Manager, a Bright Mind, a Brother, a Husband, a Father, a Grandfather, a Great Grandfather, a Friend.

It may be too late for his prognosis but we can all help give him peace of mind by assisting in his only wish; that is, to ensure his family is taken care of. Any amount will help and is greatly appreciated. God Bless.
