Her Story:
Mahulda Gussie Brown Carrier, Rosewood's teacher, survived the New Year's Day massacre totaling between 400 and 500
KKK mob members who viciously invaded her hometown; destroying it and wiping it off the map because a Sumner white woman, Fannie Taylor, told the historic lie accusing her husband, Aaron Carrier, of attacking her early morning January 1. 1923. Mahulda's life was shattered and her dreams were derailed. She suffered the agony of defeat and died at a young age.
In memory of my Aunt Mahulda Gussie Brown Carrier interrupted life, please make
a memory donation in support of building
a museum in her name and honor. Donations of any degree are appreciated and welcomed.
Thank you.
