HELP US STOP THE PROPOSED QUARRY EXPANSION
Tilcon wants the Borough Council to approve rezoning of property currently “preserved in perpetuity” so that it can expand its existing quarry into our neighbors' backyards. We already suffer from the current quarry’s blasting on a daily basis, which shakes our foundations; we do not want to bring it closer to our homes.
The ominous dust cloud from the quarrying operations hangs over the quarry and contaminates our air with its toxic silica dust. Why else would the quarry workers be required by law to wear protective clothing and masks? What will our nearby children wear when they go out to play under the cloud?
The proposed expansion will be on environmentally sensitive wetlands. The neighborhood that surrounds the proposed expansion already suffers from flooding; in fact, there have been fish in the flooded streets! What will happen if they blow up the rest of the hill that acts as a buffer to heavy rains?
Please help us fight this big corporation. A blasting quarry does NOT belong in a family neighborhood! It will ruin our small town and threaten the health and the futures of our families.
