Please Help My Parents

Donation protected
Greetings, everyone. Both my parents have had Coronavirus. My stepdad was first to get it. For him, it began with fevers and chills on April 12. A mere two days after his 57th birthday. On April 21st, he was admitted into Kaiser hospital in San Francisco. On April 25th, he was put in a medically induced coma and a ventilator to help him breathe. He's still at Kaiser. While on his coma, he's faced pneumonia, fevers, several rounds of sedatives and antibiotics, one tracheostomy, damaged liver functions and most recently daily hemodialyses.  Although his Covid-19 tests have come negative, he's still on a ventilator and hasn't regained consciousness. It's been a hellish 52 days for him and for my family since he went into the hospital. My mom was diagnosed with Covid-19 on April 21st, the same day my dad was admitted. She went into quarantine in her San Francisco apartment. I called or chatted with her everyday to check-in and try to lift her spirits. Sometimes bringing her groceries or something special that she would like to eat, like Chinese food. She faced down fevers, chills, troubled breathing, coughing fits, loneliness, sadness and depression; all on her own. But my mother is now a Covid-19 survivor. At her insistence, I took her to get another Covid-19 test and saw how much the swab hurt her, but she did it for us to see that she was now negative, which the results confirmed the next day. The coronavirus took a wrecking ball to both my parents' lives. My stepdad was the one who worked driving for Uber and Lyft and then Instacart after the shelter-in-place started. And my mom was/is a stay-at-home wife. Needless to say, my mom is worried about their finances. I have applied for state disabilty and PUA (pandemic unemployment assistance) for my stepdad, but no help has come yet. My brother and I have also applied to various nonprofits in SF to get my parents some kind of assistance, but we haven't heard back. So, I came up with the idea to start a GoFundMe page. I have seen the positive power that this community has had in the past. I hesitated to do it sooner because I didn't quite know how to frame and present it to the group. I know that pandemic has put a lot of us in stressful and dire conditions, but I must ask for help anyway. If you can please help my parents, even a little bit, I will be ever so grateful. Once again, thank you for your time. Stay safe and stay healthy. Please let me know if you have any questions.
