Hello, my name is Tevin McCoy. I am currently enrolled at Reinhardt Univeristy pursuing my bachelor's of science degree in sports administration. Despite a long and difficult journey, I am two semesters away from doing what many said I wouldn't. I am two semesters away from doing what most said was impossible. Everybody has a story, so here is mine.

I'm the youngest of three children and I watched my mother break her back to provide for the three of us on her own. That motivated me more than anything to be the best I can be. Once I graduated from high school, I was off to college to live my dreams of playing college football As I started my college career, I became a standout on the field but that success didn't translate to the classroom.

Unfortunately, I had to drop out of school and return home. For two years, I worked countless dead end jobs and to make ends meet until I realized that I was not maximizing my potential. I knew I had to provide for my family but those dead end jobs were not for me.

Luckily for me, God recently blessed me with another opportunity at Reinhardt University where I have not only returned to the football field but I have become deeply rooted in the community, as a member of several different organizations on campus. I have also maintained a 3.5 GPA since my return.

Although I'm slowly getting my life back together, things are never as peachy as they seem. One summer night before I re-enrolled at RU, I got charged with a DUI. I have completed all my disciplinary consequences, but I am still currently serving probation for that offense. Due to that charge, I lost part of my scholarship at RU.

In my two years away from college, I became the bread winner in my household. Despite my return to school, my family's financial situation has not changed. However, as a full-time student-athlete, I do not have the income to provide for my loved ones like I want to. Unfortunately, I also know we can't afford the last two semesters of my undergrad degree.

I am two semesters away from doing what many told me I would never do. I am two semesters from what some said was impossible after I went back home. I am two semesters from being able to change my family's financial situation for good.

I am (2,000) shy of paying off my tuition debt for the upcoming year and that much closer (or that far way) from walking across the stage and becoming the best me that I can be.
