Help Sweet Noel

Many of you have been following the story of Noel. She is the sweet, young hound dog, who was found lying in the road, shivering and cold, just before Thanksgiving. She had been hanging around a property that the owners had purchased just two months prior, and it became clear that she had been cast aside.

On the day she was taken in, she weighed a mere 24 pounds. Her ideal body weight should be closer to 50 pounds.

Despite her young age, her body clearly showed signs that she had carried multiple litters of puppies.

Over the last two months, a series of volunteer fosters with Green Dogs Unleashed, have fed, nurtured, and loved on Noel with the ultimate goal of re-establishing a healthy weight, getting her spayed and sending her to her forever home.

Last week, having gotten up to 37 pounds, the vet deemed her strong enough for the spay surgery. Unfortunately, there was a complication with the surgery. It turns out that, the poor, emaciated dog, who was rescued in November, was already carrying another litter of puppies. A litter, that her weak body was not able to support. The puppies were reabsorbed and the result was a uterine infection that went unnoticed until her spay surgery. The infection caused a significant amount of bleeding, and only through extrodinary vet care, was her life saved. Tonight, she began bleeding profusely and was rushed to the emergency vet.

We wait and worry and hope for good news, but we need your help with the mounting expenses that have resulted from caring for this sweet girl.
