Here's a current picture of me, Carole Swoboda (TACS) and Laura Peck. We've been together for almost 30 happy years.
Unfortunatley, things have gotten a little less happy in the past year. Laura had to step down in her work position a little over a year ago or risk possibly loosing her job. This resulted in a pay cut in about a third of what she was making.
Added end to that my health has gotten worse. My arthritis has gotten to a point where I am either in a wheelchair or a bed. I cannot walk at all anymore and need a ramp to get in and out of the house along with someone to push me as it's too painful to use my own hands and shoulders.
While these ailements are debilitating, they are also causing a big problem with our finances, especially with Laura's lower salary. My prescriptions are expensive even with insurance then there are medical supplies not covered by insurance at all which amount to over $300 a month. I have even been missing dosages of my pain medication to make it go longer but this is causing me a lot of stress which adds to the pain and my age isn't helping any as I'm almost 70 now.
Now our lease is up and the rent has been raised and we cannot afford to stay in this unit. The rental office said they have a flat available in ten days that will be $600 a month less however we have to come up with a $500 transfer fee plus about $1500 for movers. We can't manage to get that amount of money together ourselves and have no family that can help out, so this is the only way I can see to get us into a more livable situation.
The good news is that if we can get this money together with the much lower rent, I won't have to worry about getting my medical supplies anymore and the less stress will ease some of the pain I have to deal with.
Laura and I have never done anything like this before and apologize for having to ask for donations but our backs are up against the wall unless we can raise this money by next week.
