Support Mira / Medical Bills
We're asking you to help the Mcknight family. 5yr old Mira was unexpectedly diagnosed with a brain tumor and within hours was plunged into a fight for her life!
With two "Life Flights" via helicopter, emergency brain surgergy, and time in the ICU Unit, there will be medicals costs and lost time from work for her parents.
We ask that you donate if you can and send all the love and prayers for little Mira you can muster. Experiencing the strength of even the sickest child is inspiring, as will be your help.
Thank you so very much!
The doctors are rarely in the room while the fun and exciting things are happening, but with the aid of technology, fast thinking, and some smart phones, the family can quickly video what they see and show the doctors. Pretty amazing stuff overall.
The big news thus far this weekend is her breathing tube was removed. It was uncertain whether she'd need a "trach" (pronounced trake), to help her breathing after the temporary breathing tube was removed, but for better than a week she's been ahead of the breathing machine and has consistently passed her breathing tests. The concern lies with her ability to clear her throat - swallowing and coughing essentially. However, the docs were confident this could be removed, so we're buzzing along now without it. Mira will be monitored closely and there is no guarantee she'll be without it, but things are looking positive and she's holding strong thus far.
We always try to temper the news we put out so we don't write or illustrate something that can be taken incorrectly and misunderstood. The fact of the matter is, Mira is slowly advancing on this long road. The doctors, nurses, and staff have been clear with us that she's a fighter. This is encouraging and comforting at the same time.
Without your support, well wishes, prayers, and outpouring of energy, this struggle would not be something the McKnight family could tackle. Everyone is so honored to be deserved of your continual thoughts, the word "thanks" cannot be quantified.
Thank you all so much and may God bless you all.
Mira's brain and stem are still swollen and this is impacting her movements. Until the swelling recedes, we won't have a clear picture of what her journey entails, so we continue to pray, hope, and thank you all for your warmth.
We concentrate on each moment and move day by day with our little warrior - Mira.
Thank you all for your thoughts and kindness. It means more than we can put into mere words.
Mira is going through the slow process of being 'woken' over the course of a few days and we simply don't know what the future forks in the road may entail. We do know Mira is a fighter as are her friends and family.
Your prayers, well wishes, and acts of kindness cannot be thanked enough. We're in the beginning of our journey.
