Medical Bills for Rescue Dog

Please Help Me...

I was a stray at the West Valley Animal Shelter brought in by someone who found me on the street on July 28, 2014.  I have severe hair loss on various parts of my body and my little tail is bald.  On Saturday, August 9th, thankfully someone came to adopt me.  She had to say good-bye to Chili, her 15 year old Chow Chow, a week earlier and felt bad for her other dog who was now all alone.  So, after a long and stressful day of being groomed, vaccinated and chipped, my rescuer and a shelter employee decided to take me on a walk while waiting for my papers to be processed.  It was a nice walk until I fell to the ground convulsing from a seizure.  The shelter worker picked me up and rushed me inside to the vet.  I was stabilized with fluid, ice and alcohol on my pads.  My temperature was 105.  The vet said the seizure was likely caused by a heat stroke.  They kept me in the hospital area of the shelter for the night.

On Sunday my rescuer called to check on me and the vet said that I was stable and would be neutered first thing that morning and that I could be picked up at 4pm.  Thankfully, she did come to rescue me and took me to my new home.  I now have a nice home with a yard and a new friend named Little Dog.  I was given the name Duke.  Unfortunately, I only spent two hours in my new home before I was rushed to the McClave Emergency Hospital because my rescuer noticed that I kept trying to urinate but couldn’t.  I had a full exam and was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection and given antibiotics, pain medication and an anti-inflamatory.

Two days later, I had another seizure.  This time it was at 11 pm, so it was not caused by heat stroke.  We don’t know how long it lasted because my rescuer found me outside on the lawn convulsing.  I seem to have come out of it okay but now need to be tested to determine what is wrong with me.  Unfortunately, between the vet bills from Chili, my adoption fees and my last emergency visit, my rescuer cannot afford all of the tests I need.  The only help the shelter offered was to return me.  My rescuer and I both know what that would mean for me and that is why we are asking for your donation to help pay my medical bills.  Every dollar will help…please donate so that I can get the medical attention I need and don’t have to go back to the shelter.

Thank you, Duke & Michele
