Cynthia Needs Our Help

Donation protected

I was referred to this sweet lady, Cynthia Fandrich-Bongolan, seven years ago in Danville, CA.  I was told she’s a chiropractor and very good with and passionate about children.  She had great success treating them for weaknesses in the body such as ADHD, autism and severe allergies through the use of diet.  I didn’t know what to expect but I would try anything to help my daughter who was having trouble focusing in school.  She was so wonderfully in tune with and truly cared about us from day one.  With Cynthia's help, my daughter overcame some temporary problems but I continued working with Cynthia myself.  There was something about her, she was so selfless, humble and smart.  I started seeing Cynthia on a regular basis for chiropractic care  until she got sick in late 2011.  Weeks went by, then months.  She wasn’t getting well. I found out she had Multiple Sclerosis. I was devastated for her. For the last five years I have done my best to support Cynthia and her husband Frank as best as I could.  They never asked for much, just small things here and there.
I have recently become aware that things are worse than I thought.  Unfortunately, Cynthia and her husband have no health insurance.  Cynthia became bedridden and is in constant pain.  They can’t collect disability because they don’t have a diagnosis because they can’t afford to see a doctor.  In 2013, Frank had to give up his full-time practice (chiropractic) to be a full-time caretaker for Cynthia, a job for which he is not qualified and consequently has taken an effect on his health.  Her mom comes on the weekends to give Frank a break so he can see his remaining patients and drive for Uber to try to make ends meet.  They often have had to sell their furniture and belongings just to have food for a month.   Family and friends have lent financial support over the years but now they are also financially drained.

Things are starting to look up.  They will be moving into a first floor apartment this coming February so Cynthia can be taken outside in a wheelchair.  She has not left their current upstairs apartment for years. Stanford has accepted their request for full neurological testing and they’ve been put in touch with a social worker. Pamela McDonald, a local practitioner, has generously volunteered her time to help.

Cynthia and Frank are devout Christians.  Prayer has taken them this far and now I’d like to ask for your help in answering the rest.  Frank has recently been able to obtain insurance, for which we are grateful.  Stanford will pay for 80% of the testing so they need to come up with the difference.  Cynthia will need transportation to and from Stanford.  There is a reclining wheelchair that Cynthia would like so she can get out of the bed and sit in without pain, but it’s costly. They need furniture and bedding.  Frank would like to get back to work, but they will need a daily caretaker. They will continue to have medical expenses over the next few months, if not years, to care for Cynthia. If Frank can get back to work and Cynthia can get disability they can get by on their own, but that will take some time.

Most importantly, we want this special lady, who has made such on impact on our community, to get well. She is finally getting the help she so desperately needs.  Please pray for them and they will be so grateful for any help you can offer. Thank you in advance for your support!
