Throughout my years as a musician, artist and community volunteer, this next chapter of my life has become clear: Focus in on my love of singing and playing music to help soothe and spread joy, cross-culturally. To encourage my path, I have enrolled at the Chaplaincy Institute of Maine.
At this time, I have chosen to study the world’s wisdom traditions, non-traditional paths and spiritual practices. It is my hope that this knowledge will both personally and professionally support a deeper understanding of our cultural similarities and differences.
In times of joy and sorrow, music can be transforming. It has the ability to invite us to see the light in each other and within ourselves, and bridge communication challenges. I care deeply about sharing music with all people and our beautiful planet. There is an energy that connects us and music helps to access these harmonic vibrations -- something I wish to learn.
I play a wide range of styles: Classical, Traditional/folk, jazz, swing, alternative and World and continue to expand my repertoire. I use my voice, a variety of flutes, shruti box and other instruments.
My solo instrumental CD called 'Wind' was created for meditation, yoga and deep relaxation. It is included in the Rewards section of this campaign.
Academic Overview:
This first year, Year of Contemplation, includes deep personal development and inner reflection, academic study, ministry skill development and 150 related hours of volunteer community service.
The second year, Year of Action, includes continued study and an internship of 150 additional hours of service.
Cost of Tuition:
1st Year ~ $3,975
2nd Year ~ $3,975
2 residential retreats per year (room & meals) ~ $500
Books and art materials ~ $400
Ordination / graduation fee ~ $100
Total: $8,950
