Relief from the US Government Shutdown
We are raising funds to provide material relief to government workers and contractors affected by the U.S. Government shutdown.
Requests for relief will be accepted at our website http://shutdownhelp.us and at live events hosted by our event management partner Freshwater Events http://FreshwaterEvents.com
100% of your donation will benefit individuals/families as a result of the shutdown.
Payments your contribute to GoFundMe will be distributed in the form of direct payment* toward rent, mortgage expenses, heating, electricity, medical, and other urgent family needs. Undistributed funds will be donated to 501(c)3 relief agencies providing ongoing assistance to government employees and contractors.

* We help you to pay your bills. We do not give you cash.
Because it's your money we would like to offer you the following options as to how to proceed.
1. Sit tight for now. Leave your donation money in the special accounts we've established for the next month and see what happens with the government. Donald Trump has indicated that he may shut the government down again by February 15 and then we'd find ourselves right back where we have been for the past month. If you choose to sit tight for now, we will revisit this question on March 1st.
2. After at least 60 days of open government, barring any indication that it will be closed again, we would transfer the remaining undistributed balance into the general VFW veterans relief fund. This is a general fund designated to help all veterans that are active duty or have formerly served, with emergency relief (i.e. utility bills, rent, mortgages, emergency medical etc).
3. Refund my contribution. If you feel strongly about having the unspent portion of your donation returned to you, we feel that this should be an option.

Grand Traverse County, Michigan --Freshwater Events, the VFW Cherryland Post 2780, and Hotel Indigo are teaming up to produce a fundraising event to benefit the families of the Traverse City Coast Guard station.
All year long we are so deeply blessed to have a Coast Guard able and ready 24/7 to rescue us from our folly and emergency situations.
We intend to show our "Coasties" some Traverse City style lovin' and make sure that nobody falls through the cracks financially, or lacks for food, heat, medical treatment, and other life essentials during the Government Shutdown.
