Grady’s Award-Winning G3 Robotics FRC Team 1648!

We need your support to continue our success.

G3 is back and gearing up to travel! Hot on the heels of the 2017 FIRST Robotics Competition: STEAMWORKS season kick-off, we are very excited about the challenges and opportunities that this steampunk-inspired adventure will provide. Following last year's success, our team has even higher hopes and bigger dreams for the new season. With your support, the 60+ students of G3 will grow as STEM leaders and entrepreneurs even beyond their greatest expectations.

Last season, we competed at World Championships in St. Louis, MO for our second year in a row, providing an exciting global experience for our students, whose competitive robot ranked among the top 20% of all teams, worldwide. This performance level shows we are ready to take our performance to the next level in 2017 where we are counting on attending World Championships again, this time in Houston, Texas!

The continued support of our community of friends and sponsors has been vital to our success. G3 would not have been able to travel to the 2015 and 2016 FIRST Championships without your support. G3 always proudly displays your logos on their shirts, their robot, and in the team pit at every competition; we’d like to do it again this year.

As you can imagine, it's not easy to build competitive robots and send this many students and mentors to four events as far away as Columbus, GA and Houston, TX. Currently, the team needs to raise about $10,000 for travel and event registration. Our parents will contribute a great deal to offset travel expenses to every event, but some families cannot afford to contribute. We are committed to making competition travel affordable for all students, regardless of family income. To keep that commitment, we must raise funds to reduce the cost per family and provide scholarships. Your tax-deductible donation in any amount will help us reach our fundraising goal of $10,000 for the 2017 competition season. You can help the team and your favorite G3 student by making a contribution by March 3rd, 2017, the first official date this year’s competition robot hits the field in Gainesville, GA!

Your tax-deductible donation will help us continue our success! Our 501(c)(3) identification number is 20-5604200.

Thank you for your continued support of our team. You are truly changing the world!

Well, y'all! Exciting times as we near $9000 today!!

As you may know, our G3 annual crowdfunding campaign wraps up with the student who brings the most donors having the honor of throwing a pie in the face of the mentor of his or her choice. To get ready for the moment, our students and mentors staged a throwing practice with... kickballs! Hope you enjoy the video.

This year's donation campaign is a HOTLY contested race, with one student pulling into the clear lead this weekend - a record of 55 donors! And, it's not over til it's over, so quite a few more students are taking up the charge with their own small donation requests to friends, family, and community. One mom calls it #5atatime - letting every donor know how small amounts come together for BIG differences is real outreach. She's right; it takes everyone possible to give a little for kids in STEM; with so much support, they can make it not just to Houston, but to college and career too.

Thank you for help funding G3 travel, and for the current 143 donors who've shown our team so much inspiration. Can't wait to see what develops as we close in on our goal of $10,000! GO G3, let's get there!!

Community Partners: The Heart of the G3 Matter

Over the past 3 years, G3 has worked hard to create a better robot and solidify Grady High School as a repeat World Championship contender. To do that takes big-hearted partners who help G3 look beyond its tiny shop walls to a world of inspiration.

This year, G3 is proud to welcome Diversified Metal Fabricators as hands-on professional mentors and local community supporters too. Tucked away on the Beltline just behind Trader Joe’s, this 30-year Virginia-Highland custom manufacturer creates road-to-rail vehicle equipment designed and built for greater access to the maintenance and construction of railway systems.

When G3 asked DMF for help, Jeff Isom and Tim Monroe came to the shop to give their mechanical and applications engineering expertise to the team. Thanks to Jeff and Tim, our students have quickly grown in their design, build, and machining capabilities, changing the course of G3’s vision for years to come.

Equally important to G3 is Danielle Brooks, DMF CEO and Morningside resident, who has volunteered DMF’s shop space and professional painting booth to the cause. She’s an inspiration to G3’s young engineering women - thank you, Danielle!

The power of mentors, community sponsors and donors like you is limitless when it comes to students in STEM. Thank you, DMF, and all G3 supporters - 13 years of Grady students couldn’t compete without you!

Please continue to donate to our innovators - we are now over $4000 with only 12 days left to make it to $10K. Go G3 supporters - we can do this!

Last weekend, G3 Robotics partnered with Habitat for Humanity for its fourth consecutive year. This time, the team brought together 40 volunteers to construct and install all of the walls for the Mathews family. For a team used to a six-week window to build a single 120-pound robot, working from the foundation up to see the framework of a 3-bedroom house come to life in a single day was astonishing. One of G3's exchange students, Vit Madle from the Czech Republic, smiled. "I am so proud of this house! I feel like I've left a part of myself in America with a family who needed my help. It's a very good feeling!"

While it's true G3 Robotics immerses high school students in science and technology, thousands of our 60-member team's personal hours are devoted to service and broad community outreach throughout the entire calendar year. When you fund G3, you don't just fund robots, you fund teen hearts and

We're now close to $3000! Please help spread the word so we can make the team's 10K goal to get that robot to Houston, G3!
