The mission of the Cambodian University Scholarship Program is to help impoverished students in rural areas of Cambodia to receive a proper education but most importantly, to learn English which is a gateway to a better life. Learning English is important because it creates education and future job opportunities that helps prevent these children from being forced into child slavery and sex trafficking.  It is estimated that three in every thousand people in Asia have fallen victim to forced labor and sexual servitude and this is especially true in rural areas where other opportunities are very limited.

I’ll be going to Cambodia in August to teach English to students in the Program and extend the reach of the program into additional villages. I’ll be working with CUSP and World Vision staff.  As part of the trip, I am seeking donations to extend the impact of my work.  Half of the money I raise will be used by the Program to support ongoing work, and the other half will be used to purchase school supplies and equipment that I will deliver and will be used by students in the English camp.

More information on the Cambodian University Scholarship Program is available at http://www.cusp.org/.

In addition, a video filmed at a recent English camp in one of the villages that took place in February 2016 led by my friend Ray Durr is available here:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB_zaQNuYKg. The video is three minutes long and helps to visually show the work that is taking place in the villages.  The young children that are impacted by work in the villages will graduate into CUSP’s high school program.

This project means a lot to me because I have a strong passion for justice and equality and I feel that it is very important for impoverished children to be equipped with the appropriate materials and skills in order to lift themselves and their families out of poverty. So by donating money you will help impoverished children in Cambodia learn English, which can open the door for jobs and higher education. Poverty is a very serious social issue in Cambodia as 27.7% of its population is under the official poverty line.

Please consider:

a $60 donation provides one Cambodian high school student with the proper school supplies and other necessities for one month.
a $100 donation provides one Cambodian college student with the proper school supplies and other necessities for one month.
a $100 donation funds supplies for one Cambodian English class for younger children in a village for a whole year.
a $450 donation will meet a need for an LCD projector for a Cambodian English class.
a $1,500 donation will fund programs for a Cambodian village for an entire year.

These donations are really appreciated as they will help to fight poverty and prevent these children from being exploited.  The Cambodian University Scholarship Program is a registered 501c non-profit organization based out of Shoreline, Washington.  Your donations are completely tax deductible.  My goal is to have the funds raised by the end of May and I thank you for letting you heart lead you to helping to impact these children.

Thanks for joining me in fighting for an end to poverty and children’s exploitation in Cambodia.
