Curts Brain Cancer Aid

Donation protected
This page is for supporting Curt who's 25 years of age, with his ongoing battle with brain cancer. His older brother Oli has already performed in his boxing debut in which all profits were given to Curt in aid. Other family members and I intend to partake in further events to help raise money to support Curt. This GoFundMe page, we intend to use as the primary source for allowing others to donate towards supporting Curt.

Why does he need support?
Curt is unable to work since having his operation in February 2018 and receives no sick pay as he was self-employed. It has become apparent since applying for financial support that due to travelling outside of the country for 2 years he is not entitled to any benefits. This is despite the fact that he has worked all his life, contributing to national insurance. This means that his partner is having to provide for the both of them financially in their first home together. On top of this, money is needed for additional treatment. There is no set target as donations will continue to help Curt during the longevity of his treatment.

His Full Story:
My brother Curt was a healthy and strong individual who was making the most of his life. He is my older brother and has always looked after me so now I plan to look after him while he is in need. Late 2014 he went travelling around Australia and neighbouring countries such as Bali, Thailand and New Zealand.

Unfortunately, not long after he had returned from his travels in 2016, he had a seizure during the night. This then led to investigations and it was discovered that he had a brain tumour. He initially had 6 weeks out of work, leading on from this Curt experienced further seizures and declined in health and activity. Various scans and operations were performed, with some operations giving after effects on Curt’s wellbeing.

An open brain operation (Awake Craniotomy) was performed, February 2018, to see about removing as much as possible of the tumour. However, during the procedure it was discovered that the tumour was intertwined with parts of the brain and so was too risky to remove without severe side effects. The operation allowed for a biopsy to be taken, which confirmed that the tumour was cancerous. Its full title being a grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma. After the operation, Curt experienced multiple issues with movement of his body and was and still experiences pain in his head.

He is due to start radiotherapy for 6 weeks beginning in May 2018. A planned course of 6-12 months of chemotherapy then follows.

Since his operation in February 2018 Curt has been unable to work and currently has no financial aid. Donations would be greatly appreciated in order to support him and his partner financially during this difficult time of uncertainty.

All we hope for is a kind donation to help support my brother. Think of how much we all spend on a "night out". How about for once, have a "night out" for Curt.
