Curtis- The Lost Boy
Curtis was found in the early morning of June 11th, tied to a tree; soaking wet and covered in his own feces. We did our best to locate Curtis’ family in case he was stolen or ran away from home, but sadly, his owners did not want to be found. We called local vets, humane societies and local shelters to no avail. We checked for a microchip, but sadly, he was never chipped.
We took Curtis in our care, we had a foster home lined up for him until we could get his vetting done and start his search for a forever home.
In the morning of June 18th, Curtis began having a violent seizure, followed by another and another. It was clear something was wrong and his foster parents took him to our rescue vet for bloodwork and answers. Over the next 24 hours, Curtis’s state deteriorated and he was brought back to the vet to see a neurologist. Curtis is still at the vet, we have been able to stop the seizures and get him comfortable.
Curtis will need an MRI to help us understand what might be causing his seizures and give us a better understanding of how to successfully treat them and get him comfortable. We will spare no expense to get answers and ensure this gentle giant gets the care he deserves.
We will not desert Curtis, we will stand in his corner and fight with him but we need your help. Black Dog Rescue is a volunteer run rescue and we need to fundraise to cover his medical bills which includes a lengthy visit hooked on IVs and liquid Valium, a neurologist appointment, an MRI and ongoing care.
We are asking for the public’s help in raising the necessary funds to help Curtis, our lost boy. If you are unable to donate, please share his story. Please keep Curtis in your thoughts as we continue to fight alongside him.
