The Curtis Bartlett Story
Bartlett, 32, began his fitness journey during recovery from a knee injury while in the military. An Army veteran who served in Iraq, Bartlett carried his military-inspired training into his life after the service as a member of the Carroll County Sheriff's Office. After leaving the Army, Bartlett joined the Carroll County Sheriff's Office in 2013. In the few short years he served as a deputy, he made many deep impressions on the local community. He also served as an inspiration for those trying to improve their physical condition. One local resident noted that Bartlett personally helped him lose 100 pounds in eight months. Bartlett lost his life in the line of duty on 3-9-2017.
Police Fitness is a US registered and approved 501(c)(3) charity created to assist law enforcement officers in their ongoing quest to be "Fit to Serve, Fit to Protect, Fit for Life." We endeavor to help law enforcement agencies create a culture of fitness and well-being by assisting them with their fitness training, self-defense, wellness curriculum, healthy eating and meal-training.
The fulfillment of Curtis Bartlett's dream is the permanent facility (CBF-Curtis Bartlett Fitness Center) designed to allow FREE memberships to all First Responders. There are some much needed funds still out there for equipment and facility improvements inside the building! We need your help in impacting the health of not only the first responders here in Galax, but the local community as well. Our goal is simple: to help everyone to "Be Curtis Strong"!
