Cure the “C”

My Fiancé, Rodney Rink, has been struggling the past year and a half with health issues and in and out of the ER. He’s had every test for heart and lungs and all has been “NORMAL”. He couldn’t work for about a year but with medical EI and regular EI we managed to get by. In early summer Rodney got a job at Shephards Home Hardware. He loved the work, the customers and his fellow work mates!! He was there for about two and a half months when he came home with a bad fever. The next day he ended up in ER once again but this time in excruciating upper abdominal pain, pancreatitis . After a week in hospital, the doctor said he had MONO. At 49 not a good thing. It was from the scan he had over the past 1.5 years that they found a “spot “ on his lung that had grown over the past year. Better have it investigated to be safe! Well the long story short...... it was a cancer spot. Further investigation has told us it is stage 3 as it has moved into the lymph glands in the lung. It’s official, now he has lung cancer. So now we wait for chemo and radiation to start Dec 19th for 6 weeks continual treatment.
We have a small hobby farm that we both love, so being around our animals has kept us both sane. We have sheep, goats, pigs, chickens and milk cows. We are pretty much self sufficient but Rodney is extremely tired and needs to sleep more and more each day!! We have 3 kids between the two of us with my two living with us on a day to day basis. It is difficult to do much with the kids as we are both tired now trying to keep the farm and house running. I am currently on disability too with chronic laryngitis, this makes my teaching job extremely difficult.
Neither of us are the ones to ask for handouts we are the ones giving to others, so being here is tough for us both. We have been asked how we could be helped, this program was suggested to us!!
