My daughter Stella Charlotte Murray was stillborn on January 21st, 2013 and the 24 hours that I spent with her are the most treasured hours of my life. Numerous families since mine have experienced the traumatic event of watching their precious baby change before them. Help us to make sure that future families don't have to, starting with Peace Arch Hospital.
What is a CuddleCot?
The CuddleCot is recognized across the world as helping parents who suffer the loss of a baby. Dealing with the death of a baby is an incredibly difficult time for parents and a major way that hospitals can improve their services to these bereaved parents is to provide them with time to spend with their babies. This “time” allows the family to form an important bond with their baby, dressing them, changing their diaper, bathing them, experiences that they otherwise would not get, as this can help families in dealing with their loss. The problem is that in a warm room the baby’s condition can deteriorate quickly which parents often find distressing.
How does the CuddleCot help?
The CuddleCot system cools the baby in situ, allowing the baby to remain with the family thereby providing the family the time they want.
