2017 CT HOBY Leadership Seminar

Creating #CTleaders since 1978!

At CT HOBY, our mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation.

We are thrilled to announce our annual CT HOBY Leadership Seminar will be held June 2 - 4, 2017 on the University of Bridgeport campus!

Every year, CT HOBY brings together over 150 sophomores from across the state of Connecticut for a life-changing three-day seminar. While at seminar, the students hear from key note speakers, participate in leadership development activities, and participate in a variety of community service projects all while having the opportunity to meet new friends from all around the state. But CT HOBY goes so much beyond these three days. After leaving seminar, these ambassadors are now connected with a lifelong international support system to help them achieve their goals.

Once seminar has completed, the ambassadors are challenged to perform 100 hours of community service within a year of their seminar. Many students go above and beyond that, thanks to CT HOBY.

Our recent success stories speak for themself:

Sonya Stancyk, a 2012 CT HOBY alumni, founded a nonprofit entitled Feeding the Need shortly after her HOBY seminar. This organization takes food from the food banks, prepares the food into ready to eat meals, and delivers these meals to homeless shelters throughout the state. To date more than 28,000 have been packed and delivered.

Jackie Kasinskas, a 2014 CT HOBY alumni, partnered with Feeding Children Everywhere to lead project to tackle hunger. Jackie raised several thousand dollars and secured nearly 60 volunteers to help with this operation. In just one hour, she was able to lead her volunteers to pack 12,000 meals to be distributed to locals in need.

Now CT HOBY needs your help so we can continue to help empower the next generation of leaders! They will have the opportunity to learn and grow in ways that they cannot yet imagine. In order to hold the quality seminar that our students deserve, we are looking to raise funds to help cover the cost of lodging, meals, and office supplies. Any contributions are greatly appreciated not only by our staff and volunteers but by all of our former and future ambassadors. Thank you so much!

“I never knew that I could excel as a leader and make an impact on the world- I never knew myself until HOBY came into my life.” – Jon Zoccoli 2014 Alumni
