Sacramento State Tiny House Project

Donation protected
The Sac State Tiny House team, Sol Vespidae (Solar Hornet), is competing in a tiny house competition sponsored by SMUD (Sacramento Municipal Utility District). We need your financial help to push us toward the October 2016 finish line!

Our project explores net-zero energy building, green building techniques, and sustainable living. Our team designed the home in 2015 and began building our house on wheels this summer.  The house will be approximately 200 square feet. This tiny home will feature smart energy appliances, green building techniques, and the use of renewable energy, creating an innovative net-zero home.  Adding to the sustainability of the home will be capturing greywater for reuse, solar thermal technology, and LED lighting. Our goal is to make this home a top finisher in the competition.

Spearheaded by the CSUS Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, this project furthers our education on a subject that is growing in popularity and need, sustainable design. It also provides valuable experience in our respective fields of mechanical engineering, construction management, electrical engineering, and civil engineering.

No donation is too small and we thank you in advance for your support!
