Mabuhay!

We are the Filipino American Student Association, also known as FASA, at California State University, Northridge. This year, we're producing our 34th Annual Pilipino Cultural Night (PCN) which will be held on April 20, 2018. Our production highlights all aspects of the Fil-Am experience, written and performed by hard-working college students. This year's PCN is titled, "Walang Hiya," which means, "No Shame".

What is PCN?

For the past 33 years, members of our organization have graced the stage with dance and music of the Filipino culture accompanied by a theatrical interpretation of Filipinx-American struggles in a student-written script. This show caters to more than just the Asian community, during this event, we will be dedicating our performances to the history of our generation, past leaders of our clubs, our families and friends, and supporters of FASA.

Due to recent budgets cuts by the school and insufficient funding, we seek the support of our closest friends, family, and members of the community! Without your support this performance will not be possible. For the past 33 years, our PCN's have always been free of charge to those that attend because we see it as our gift to the community.

Below we have our PCN is about, where you contributions will go, what you get for your contributions, and bio of our amazing club.

Our Story

Valerie & Travis, two fraternal twins, and their mother Rae, living in America, take a visit to the Philippines to celebrate their 21st birthday. Excited to spend the next few weeks in the homeland, they begin to feel unwelcomed. With their cousins Bea & Brett, and their Tita Lez contributing the most to their flaws & insecurities, they begin to dislike who they are and in essence, begin to hate their Filipino identity. As most cultures come with their societal flaws, Valerie & Travis work together to overcome their personal insecurities and challenge the ideal beauty standards present in the Philippines & the Filipino community.

Where Your Contribution Will Go

PCN is extremely expensive, and we are going to need your help in order to fund our show.

This includes:
- Dance & Script Props: Example: Tinikling sticks, Gongs, etc.
- Costumes: We want to be able to create and have accurate costumes on stage.
- Venue: The Plaza Del Sol Performing Arts Center costs us roughly $11,000 alone, with minimal help from our school.
- Instrumentalists: We have live musicians play the Filipino folk music during our show.
- Programs: PCN Programs that are given out during the show.

Rest of the proceeds goes to making sure our organization thrives through things such as events we hold, FASA apparel, and other things we must pay for.
